The Driftless Opportunity

I live in the small town of Viroqua, in the heart of the so-called Driftless Region, also known as the Coulee Region of the Southwestern Wisconsin. The area's name comes from its unique topography - bypassed by the glaciers, the Driftless Area is now a tapestry of rolling hills, fast trout streams, and picturesque valleys (or "coulees," as they are also known). The landscape, which makes it difficult to have large farms and enterprises, became the home to smaller-scale family farmers, Old Order Amish, the activists of the Organic movement, and endless opportunities to create humanly-scaled institutions. This, in part, is what this blog is about - my family's and mine involvement in starting and running educational venues, as well as our farming experiences. I hope you will stay a while and explore our adventures.
